TABLETOP GAMING CLUB

    LATEST NEWS 07-1-2025

The 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION has concluded and we look forward to another year of gaming! Thank you all for joining us last month as we celebrated our second EBAC anniversary. A total of 26 different games were played over the course of the day and a good number of memories made! Congratulations to all the winners of each game, award, and raffle.

In other exciting news, please welcome Michael Lew to the club leader team! Michael (Mike) is an enthusiastic Warhammer 40k player often seen at the Clever Kobold in Groton. When he isn’t at the war gaming tables he paints miniatures, plays and collects TCGs, and enjoys a role-play or two. He has taken on the role of active coordinator and has unique event ideas for the future! Welcome to the team Mike!

The Warhammer 40k Crusade Season 2 beings July 1st! We wish those entered in this season the best of luck! Questions regarding the crusade should be directed towards Robert Reynolds.

Restless is the sea, but you live to tame it. That is your nature, for you are a PIRATE! The chance approaches to prove your worth in the form of our TTRPG PIRATE BORG MEGA GAME.
Four gamemasters and four tables with up to five players each, all simultaneously surviving unique rotating scenarios. We welcome all willing souls brave enough to accomplish all four scenarios in an experience unlike you’ve ever known. Keep a sharp eye out for emerging details to come in the next newsletter, but for now, sail strong and practice your pirate voice!

    MONTHLY GAME SPOTLIGHT

Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory by Gale Force Nine
Hegemony: Lead Your Class to Victory is an asymmetric politico-economic card-driven board game for 2-4 players that puts you in the role of one of the socio-economic groups in a fictional state: The Working Class, the Middle Class, the Capitalist Class and the State itself. The gameplay is based on actual academic principles and you can see the real world applications as a game progresses. Hegemony is the winner of several international board game awards.

“The constant player interaction. There is always some table talk. You cannot win alone and there are shifting collaborations to try to achieve your goals while limiting another player’s success. Some of the interactions are subtle and only become apparent later in the game or after repeat plays. While it takes a while to play, I never notice the time.” – Derek Kuper

ABOUT THE CLUB

    The EBAC Tabletop Gaming Club (TGC) is a community of Electric Boat employees that come together to participate, talk, share, and altogether involve ourselves in the hobby. Some seek to broaden their knowledge of a particular hobby, to test the waters in a new game, or to simply find others that have a common interest. The TGC considers the following to be under our Tabletop Gaming umbrella;

Board/Card Games (BGs) are tabletop games that typically use pieces. These pieces are moved or placed on a pre-marked board and often include cards, miniatures, and more. (ex. Wingspan, Catan, Uno)

Trading Card Games (TCGs) are a type of card game that mixes strategic deck building elements with features of trading cards. (ex. Magic the Gathering, Pokemon TCG, Lorcana)

Miniature Games (MGs) are a form of tabletop game which prominently features the use of miniature models or figures. (ex. Warhammer 40,000, Battletech)

Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs), also known as pen-and-paper role-playing games, are a game in which the participants describe their characters' actions through speech, and sometimes movements. (ex. Dungeons & Dragons, Mork Borg, Alien RPG)

The club officially joined the EBAC in June 2023, but really began in June 2022 with an EB Forum post. There was a small gathering for a game of Catan and the rest is history.

    Current Member Count: 230
    EBAC official since June 2023
Playing games together since June 2022

GENERAL FAQS

Are friends and family allowed to attend club events?
Yes! Bring them along, but please be aware of the age restriction and themes of the games planned for the event. Guests will also need to sign a liability waiver to participate.

I am looking to rally other club members to play a game I am interested in outside of the usual club events. How would I go about doing this?
You can post your event details in the "Looking For" section of our Discord and/or in the EB Forums under EBAC Tabletop Gaming Club. Be sure to include a description, dates, a responsive point of contact, and other expectations to get the most responses.

I would like to volunteer as Gamemaster for Role-play Night one-shot at the end of the month.
We love volunteers! A new gamemaster always mixes things up. Please provide the number of players you're comfortable with, your adventure system (and version if applicable), and the adventure hook you'd like to use. The club leaders typicaly discuss scheduling on the last week of the month, so please submit your idea accordingly.

I am severing/leaving Electric Boat. Is there a way I can stay a member?
Of course! You are a part of our community. You will still be required to have a signed liability form on file with us, and we can notify you of future events if requested. The only change is for any closed events or tournaments members will receive priority.

    MS BOOKINGS FAQS

How do I set up my Office 365 account for use with Bookings?
You must have have an Office 365 account (If you do not have an account please reach out to the club; we can add you/get you situated).

How do I sign-up for an event?
Click here to be directed to EB’s outlook booking website. Search among the available events and dates accordingly, fill in the appropriate prompted information, then click “Book” to sign-up!

Is there a Table Seating Limit? Each table has a limited amount of seating’s; they are first come first-serve.

Is there a waitlist? If seats are filled; the table will transition into a waitlist available for members to sign-up for. If a cancellation occurs with a member who had secured a seat, then the next individual in the queue in order of date/time signed up will be contacted to fill the seat which had just opened up.

Am I retricted to what I can sign-up for? You are only allowed to sign-up for ONE seat at ONE table per Event. As long as the times do not conflict. If individuals book multiple conflicting events; your first one will remain and the other’s will fall off. Holding/reserving seats is not allowed.

What about host cancellations? If not enough seats are filled; the table will be cancelled and all members signed up will be notified. Additionally, if something unexpected occurs causing the host to cancel; the table will be cancelled and all members signed up will be notified. Afterwards, members can free sign-up for another event following the same Sign-up restrictions stated above.

What about member cancellations? Are dependent on the host’s preference. The event may allow players to cancel on their own; otherwise please send an email to the club’s official email to cancel accordingly.

Can I sign-up on the day of? Player’s signing up day of an event may be declined by the host. Certain games require heavy setup; and might cause problems with last minute additions.

Is there a way to sign-up from home. External sign-ups are allowed; individuals who would like to sign up using an external email will need to request access by emailing the club.

How will I know I have secured a seat to the event? A confirmation email will be sent 1-2 days prior to the event; requesting a confirmation from both the host & each seat member’s attendance for the event. If no answer is provided prior to day-of the event, the host is eligible to revoke that member’s seat booking followed by an awareness email. Then, reach out to the next member in the waitlist queue and offer the now vacant seat. (Per Host’s decision of course)
