    MONTHLY GAME SPOTLIGHT

Marvel Crisis Protocol by Atomic Mass Games
Marvel Crisis Protocol or MCP is a tactical combat skirmish tabletop game. Where players use figures to represent specific heroes and villains from the Marvel universe and battle each other. Its most common format is a 2-player game where each player builds a roster of heroes/villains. The game is played as a back and forth interaction between you and the opponent where each player activates a character and performs actions then the other player does the same until all characters on the battlefield have activated for that round. The game is scored at the beginning of each round and ends when either a certain point value has been reached or a player’s team has been tabled. The system to determine if actions are successful is based on a custom eight sided dice that determines successes or failures. In addition, each character can have specific rules to help or hinder dice roles. A typical game can last between 45 minutes to around an hour. Once the mission has been determined, the players will decide which point value each team will be drafting. Each hero/villain has a specific point value along with stats and a special rule set denoted by a character card. The game modes can vary from rescue missions to Intel capture to control the points and many more. The battlefield is dynamic and tends to be player-based setup so each game played is never really the same layout.
As a tabletop war-game fan and an avid painter, MCP is one of the easier tabletop skirmish games to get into. With a team consisting of just a handful of models, people can jump into the game fast without a big dent in their wallet. The game itself is very dynamic players can make the game as simple or complex as they want. In addition, the models are very detailed and fun to paint. With characters from the massive Marvel universe you can create those epic battles, maybe even answer those crazy questions of who would win in a fight: Venom or The Incredible Hulk.

ABOUT THE CLUB

    The EBAC Tabletop Gaming Club (TGC) is a community of Electric Boat employees that come together to participate, talk, share, and altogether involve ourselves in the hobby. Some seek to broaden their knowledge of a particular hobby, to test the waters in a new game, or to simply find others that have a common interest. The TGC considers the following to be under our Tabletop Gaming umbrella;

Board/Card Games (BGs) are tabletop games that typically use pieces. These pieces are moved or placed on a pre-marked board and often include cards, miniatures, and more. (ex. Wingspan, Catan, Uno)

Trading Card Games (TCGs) are a type of card game that mixes strategic deck building elements with features of trading cards. (ex. Magic the Gathering, Pokemon TCG, Lorcana)

Miniature Games (MGs) are a form of tabletop game which prominently features the use of miniature models or figures. (ex. Warhammer 40,000, Battletech)

Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs), also known as pen-and-paper role-playing games, are a game in which the participants describe their characters' actions through speech, and sometimes movements. (ex. Dungeons & Dragons, Mork Borg, Alien RPG)

The club officially joined the EBAC in June 2023, but really began in June 2022 with an EB Forum post. There was a small gathering for a game of Catan and the rest is history.

    Current Member Count: 230
    EBAC official since June 2023
Playing games together since June 2022

GENERAL FAQS

Are friends and family allowed to attend club events?
Yes! Bring them along, but please be aware of the age restriction and themes of the games planned for the event. Guests will also need to sign a liability waiver to participate.

I am looking to rally other club members to play a game I am interested in outside of the usual club events. How would I go about doing this?
You can post your event details in the "Looking For" section of our Discord and/or in the EB Forums under EBAC Tabletop Gaming Club. Be sure to include a description, dates, a responsive point of contact, and other expectations to get the most responses.

I would like to volunteer as Gamemaster for Role-play Night one-shot at the end of the month.
We love volunteers! A new gamemaster always mixes things up. Please provide the number of players you're comfortable with, your adventure system (and version if applicable), and the adventure hook you'd like to use. The club leaders typicaly discuss scheduling on the last week of the month, so please submit your idea accordingly.

I am severing/leaving Electric Boat. Is there a way I can stay a member?
Of course! You are a part of our community. You will still be required to have a signed liability form on file with us, and we can notify you of future events if requested. The only change is for any closed events or tournaments members will receive priority.
