EBAC Canoe and Kayak Club

The EBAC Canoe and Kayak Club is an Electric Boat Athletic Club sponsored and insured club formed for the purpose of getting together to paddle canoes, kayaks and stand up paddleboards (SUP) for fun and recreation. The primary activity of the club is after-work paddling excursions, although occasional weekend trips may also be planned.

Membership is free. The club does not own or provide any equipment. The club season generally starts in May and ends in September.

The primary means of club communication is through email.

Guidelines for club excursions:

·        Always wear a personal floatation device (life jacket).

·        You are responsible for your own safety.  All regular excursions are intended to be suitable for all levels of ability, but weather and water conditions can be unpredictable. If special excursions are planned that are intended for more experienced paddlers, this will be clearly stated.

·        The stated start time for an excursion is intended to be when we start paddling, not when we show up in the parking lot.  It is recommended that you show up at the launch site 10 minutes before the planned departure to allow time for everyone to launch.

·        In the case of inclement weather, a notification of cancellation will be sent out at least 2 hours prior to the event.

·        The target time duration for each excursion is approximately 2 hours, so the general plan is to turn back once an hour has elapsed, if we haven’t already reached a planned turn-around point.

To become a club member or for any other questions, contact the club commissioner, Jeff Pierce, 860-884-1637, jpierce@gdeb.com. If requesting membership, please confirm that you are an active EBAC member and have a liability waiver on file with the EBAC office.
