Kana-Grace Harden

Kana is a multi-sport athlete that participates year round, making it difficult to pick just one sport as her focus. During the spring/summer season, she participates as a member of the varsity women’s running team. Since joining the team in 2006, her contributions have resulted in the top finishes for the women’s open team at various corporate races, including the Hartford Corporate 5K and CVS Downtown 5K. Her participation in the corporate races, track workouts and the fast race times make her the top individual performer for the women’s running team during 2007. Her dedication to the sport is demonstrated through not only her corporate races, but also to her participation in various road races, including the Portsmouth Seacoast half marathon where she finished 7th in her age group. During the winter season, Kana continues her athletic pursuits as a member of the varsity snowboard team. As with running, she devotes herself to the sport and it shows in the times posted during the season, obtaining Bronze medal times and earning an invitation to the NASTAR National Championships where she placed 1st in her age group. In addition to the EBAC team races, Kana participates in the USASA (United States of America Snowboard Association) races held in Massachusetts and Vermont and is ranked 1st in her age group for both the Giant Slalom and Slalom events. While these sports are individual events, Kana approaches them with an enthusiasm and energy that is contagious to her teammates.

In addition to participating in these varsity sports, Kana also paddled in the EBAC Canoe Club’s annual Run of the Charles, which is a 24 mile relay race, where the team took 1st place in the mixed division. Outside of EBAC, she plays beach volleyball in the Groton town recreation league and squeezes in some mountain biking or rock climbing when she can.
